sleep
- All one-bedroom suites are the same size and layout—only the views differ.
- Cliffside suites are great for families: you’ll have plenty of space, a walk-in closet (fits a crib), and a large outdoor area with great views and a pool.
- The two-bedroom beachfront suite has a sleeper sofa in the living room and a large walk-in closet in the master (fits a crib, though there’s no door).
- Beachfront and Nature rooms are easy to walk to from the main building. Cliffside rooms are farther away, so you may need to rely more on golf carts.
- Some beachfront rooms are only accessible via a flight of stairs.
- King rooms have ocean-facing beds, so you can enjoy the view right from bed.
- Free washers and dryers are available throughout the property.
- The largest room available (for now) is a 3-bedroom villa (but plans are in place to expand to 25 residences).
- There’s a departure lounge, which is helpful if you need to check out before it's time to head to the airport.
- Pools can be heated upon request.
- Balconies don’t have much shade in the afternoon.
play
- If you’re planning to walk the property, prepare for hills.
- There are two beaches: Playa Majahua (near the main building) and Playa Tamarindo (a 5-minute golf cart ride away — this is the swimmable beach and where water sports are based).
- The family pool has a large shallow section, perfect for babies and toddlers.
- Free kids club is for ages 5+ and is open from 9am to 9pm (younger kids can attend with an adult). There’s also a teen club for 13+ (open 11am–11pm), and the game room is located here.
- The golf course has incredible view, perfect if you have a golfer in the family.
- If you’re traveling with a baby, the staff can set up a pack ‘n play at the pool or beach.
- It can get windy at the family pool.
- There are ramps for strollers, though you'll probably be happier walking around without one.
- For a break from the pool, you can hike to a picnic spot or join a farm tour.
- Some guests note the service isn’t quite up to Four Seasons standards yet, but it’s a new resort and is improving.
eat
- The resort is quite isolated, so all meals will be on-property. The food is good, but you may tire of it during a week-long stay.
- For dinner, dining outdoors at Sal is a highlight.
- Kids under 5 eat free, and the staff will puree food for babies on request.
- The breakfast buffet is excellent and very kid-friendly.
- Kids will enjoy doing a pizza-making class.
- Some ingredients come from the on-site working farm.
- Pack snacks and essentials—there’s no convenience store.
- Breakfast starts at 7am. If you need food earlier, room service is available 24 hours a day.

Kids Club/Teen Club:
Carmelo kids club runs 9am - 9pm, complimentary for ages 5 -12. Our 3 year old had a blast here and we always had an adult with her which they allowed. You can also hire them to babysit and participate in the kids club if under 5 and then you don't have to stay with them. There is a large team - they staffed 6 each day so at one point, my kiddo had 4 staff members leading her around on a scavenger hunt throughout the resort since she was the only kid. They were very busy over festive - but this week, the max number of kids while our kiddo was at kids club at any point was 3.
There is also a teen club that in FS fashion is a bit hidden. Once you find it, you'll find a pool table, foosball, air hockey, a bunch of playstations and monitors so kids can play together but separately and then a large movie room - which we used one night as their cinema is not yet ready. Think older kids would really like this hidden area to hang out with friends
- It's a bit hard to get here (but worth it once you arrive)
- Manzanillo-Costalegre International Airport (ZLO) is a 1 hour drive; LAX, IAH, PHX, DFW, YCC and ATL offer direct flights to ZLO
- Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) is a 4 hour drive
- Private or shared airport transportation, with car seats, is available
- If you're staying in a Premium Suite, they offer free transportation to and from Manzanillo-Costalegre International Airport (ZLO) or Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR)
- If anyone in your family gets car sick, they may struggle with the bumpy drive onto the property
- The staff can transport you around the resort in golf carts (you request using an app)
- Cribs
- Pack 'n plays
- Bottle warmer
- Bottle sterilizer
- Baby/toddler bathrobes
- Baby bathtub
