sleep

  • This is a large hotel, with rooms spread across two towers (East and West). It's part of the larger Baha Mar complex (including the Rosewood Baha Mar, SLS Baha Mar, and Baha Bay Water Park).
  • It can be a long walk from rooms to the pools. Request a room near the elevator in the West Tower for the shortest walk to the water park.
  • Some rooms have full balconies with two chairs; others only have Juliet balconies.
  • Fountain View rooms face away from the ocean but overlook the grounds and the nightly fountain show.
  • Don’t expect high-touch service; the hotel is simply too big. If service is a priority, consider the Rosewood next door.
  • Instead of a key card, guests are given a wristband to wear.
  • You can navigate most of the property with a stroller, but some routes include stairs, and the layout can be confusing due to the size.
  • There’s a casino in the main lobby. If you don’t want to walk through it, exit on floor 7 and take the exterior stairs or elevator to the pool level.

play

  • This is a fantastic property if you want lots to keep kids entertained: multiple resort pools, animal encounters, a huge water park (Baha Bay), mini golf, kids club, tennis, and a calm beach.
  • Many of the pools are zero-entry.
  • Hotel pools and the kids pool at the water park are heated. The wave pool and lazy river are not heated and can feel chilly in winter.
  • Pool chairs fill up early (lots of seat saving), especially at the main kids pool (Blue Hole). Guests move around a lot, though, so chairs do open up throughout the day.
  • Don't miss the underwater grotto at the Blue Hole pool. It has windows into an aquarium with fish, sharks, and turtles.
  • Paid lounge chairs in premium locations and cabanas are available and can be rented via QR codes on the chairs.
  • The water park closes relatively early (5pm) and enforces a 15-minute break every two hours at the kids pools.
  • Hotel pools have lifeguards until 5pm; they may ask you to exit the pool at this point, but you can get back in after they depart (the pools are technically open until dusk).
  • There’s some family programming during the day, including crafts, games, and a daily flamingo parade at 9:30am.
  • The kids club accepts children as young as 3. Parents are not allowed to accompany kids inside the club.
  • Babysitting is available day and night for kids of all ages.
  • Baha Bay can be visited with a day pass, while hotel pools are reserved for resort guests only.
  • The beach is calm and great for kids. Umbrellas are available at no charge, though staff appreciate a tip.
  • The beach is public, so vendors will walk along it. They’re generally not too disruptive.
  • The arcade is fun, but games are expensive ($2–3 each).

eat

  • There are a ton of dining options across the Baha Mar complex — some in the Hyatt and others in the neighboring Rosewood and SLS.
  • Food is quite good, especially at sit-down restaurants, but be prepared to pay a lot (e.g., ~$20 for a bagel sandwich).
  • Reservations are strongly recommended for dinner, especially during school holidays.
  • Kids eat free off the kids menu at several restaurants, as well as at the buffet.
  • Highly rated, kid-friendly options with outdoor seating include Marcus (oceanfront), Clea (Mediterranean, in the SLS), and Costa (Mexican, in the Rosewood).
  • Café Madeline is a solid, relatively quick breakfast option—don’t miss the donuts.
  • Casual spots and food trucks near the pools make lunch easy with kids.
  • There are several Kosher dining options: a sit-down restaurant (Cinko), a food truck (open for breakfast and lunch), and an ice cream stand.
  • Multiple convenience stores around the property sell snacks and essentials.
  • If you need food before 7am, there are two Starbucks on property (one in the East Tower and one in the West).
  • Residence rooms include an in-room kitchen.
