sleep

  • Overall, this property is a good value for Wailea and more affordable than neighboring luxury hotels.
  • The views are great. The hotel sits closer to the ocean than other Wailea hotels, so you can hear the waves crashing.
  • Standard rooms have a max occupancy of four (king bed + sleeper sofa or two queen beds).
  • All rooms have outdoor space. Ocean Sundeck rooms (ground floor) have extended lanais and easy access to the grounds and pool.
  • One-bedroom suites have an extra half bath where you could stash a pack ‘n play.
  • 1- to 4-bedroom villas include full kitchens and work well for multi-gen trips or longer stays. These are not standalone houses.
  • Connecting rooms are available and can be guaranteed if arranged in advance (we can help with this).
  • Hale buildings are the best location for most families. They are closer to the pools and ocean and feel more resort-like than the tower. Garden View and Sundeck Garden Oasis rooms are only in the tower, so we recommend booking at least a Partial Ocean View.
  • Rooms were refreshed in 2025, but still feel like fairly generic Marriott rooms.

play

  • Pick this hotel if you’re primarily interested in a fun pool. The adventure pool has the longest waterslide in Maui (48” height requirement), plus smaller slides, a zero-entry section, and a splash zone for younger kids. It also has a lifeguard.
  • You can’t see the ocean from the adventure pool, but you can from the other family pools.
  • There are two adults-only pools, so you don’t have to worry about your kids being loud at the family pools.
  • During peak periods, pool chairs can be hard to get. Plan to go early or book a cabana.
  • There is no beach directly on property, but it’s a short walk to Wailea and Ulua beaches along the coastal path.
  • Beach chairs at Wailea beach are first-come, first-served. If you’re there during a busy time, you’ll likely need to be in line by 8am to secure some.
  • They have a kids club facility, but it is temporarily closed.
  • There's plenty of other kid-friendly entertainment, including grassy areas, a koi pond, lawn games, an arcade, daily movies (4pm and 7pm), and scheduled activities throughout the day.
  • Activities include cooking classes, Hawaiian cultural games, and night waterslide glow parties. Some require reservations and an additional fee.
  • Bikes and water sport equipment are available to rent.
  • The property is stroller accessible, but expect longer walking routes (stairs are often more direct).
  • Scuba lessons are offered on-site.

eat

  • There are enough dining options on property, but most families mix in off-property meals. It’s easy to walk to other restaurants at nearby hotels and The Shops at Wailea.
  • Overall, food is solid but not a highlight, especially for the price.
  • There are two coffee shops on site, including a Starbucks (opens at 5:30am).
  • Poolside dining is easy and casual. There are also two food trucks (pizza and Hawaiian).
  • The on-property luau is family-style and gets good reviews.
  • In-room dining is available for breakfast and dinner.
  • If you forget anything, there’s a grocery store at The Shops at Wailea.
