sleep
- All rooms are ~600 sq ft, have a large lanai, and comfortably fit a family of 4 (king bed + sofa bed or two queen beds), or 5 if one child is in a crib.
- View options range from mountain to deluxe ocean. Mountain view rooms may face a road or parking lot, so it’s generally recommended to book at least a garden view room.
- Most connecting room options are a king room + a two-queen room.
- Executive suites have a door separating the bedroom and living room.
- Garden View Suites and Ocean View Prime Suites are large enough to accommodate a rollaway, so they can fit a family of 5 (or 6 with a child in a crib).
- Because the building is U-shaped, most ocean view rooms have partial/side ocean views.
- Some families find it worth upgrading to club level rooms. They are on the 8th floor, so they offer better views and access to a lounge with free food throughout the day.
- Residential Suites are located at the ends of the U-shaped building, so they have the best ocean views.
- Rooms are being renovated throughout 2026. Club level rooms and select suites have already been renovated.
- The Aloha Suite is a nice perk if you have a late flight. You can use it to shower and change after check-out.
- Yes, this is the hotel featured in season 1 of The White Lotus.
play
- Two family pools plus a small water slide work well for younger kids, but the pool areas themselves are not very large.
- Families love that most of the cabanas are free (first-come, first-served). Seating can be competitive during peak times, but they do stop guests from saving seats all day, so you’ll find that seats open up.
- Plan ahead if you want kid-free time at the adults-only pool (21+). Chairs fill up early (it opens at 7am), but they maintain a waitlist.
- The beach is public, but the hotel sets up chairs and umbrellas, and the calm water makes it very kid-friendly.
- The free drop-off kids club (ages 5–12) runs daily from 9am–5pm. Evening sessions are available seasonally for an extra fee.
- The property is more compact than nearby resorts. This makes it easier to get around, but also makes it feel more crowded.
- There is a strong mix of included activities like lei making, hula lessons, and cultural programming.
- There are several on-site pickleball courts, with 1 hour of reservable time included per day. There’s also a putting green and a croquet lawn.
- Golf and tennis are about 5 minutes away, with transportation included.
- In the evening, kids enjoy the live music and fire ceremony by the lobby.
- A new game room and spa/wellness center are expected in summer 2026; current setups are temporary.
- Keep your eyes out for humpback whales in the winter!
- Service is generally excellent. Staff learn your names and go out of their way to help. Want a pack ’n play brought to your cabana for your baby to nap? They’ll happily bring one.
- Their concierge team is top-notch and can plan out a great itinerary for your stay.
eat
- Breakfast is great. It’s expensive, but you’ll get free breakfast when you book through us. The buffet includes a kids section.
- Kids 4 and under eat free at Ferraro’s, DUO, Lobby Lounge, and KOMO (kids meals only, when dining with an adult).
- 24-hour room service is helpful for early wake-ups and jet lag. They also have free coffee and pastries in the lobby in the morning.
- There is no food service on the beach, but you can bring food down from the café.
- Pool service includes free hourly snacks (popsicles, smoothies, muffins, etc.).
- The main restaurants (Spago, Ferraro’s, DUO, Komo) are great, but expensive.
- The Lobby Lounge is a nice, more casual dinner option for families.
- There’s a grab-and-go market that’s great for kids. A new market/café is expected in summer 2026.
- There is no on-site luau, but there are several offered nearby.
