sleep
- Rooms were renovated in 2023.
- King rooms have a chaise that can sleep a kid.
- You can fit a Pack ’n Play in a two-queen room, but it’s a tight fit.
- Balcony rooms have very small balconies (but still give you the option of sitting outside while your kids nap).
- Families like the patio rooms due to easy access to outside; “preferred” patio rooms are the most convenient to the pool and playground.
- You have the option of booking connecting rooms as a room type (which guarantees you’ll have connecting rooms).
- The Hill Country Suite is great for families — there’s a separate living room with a pullout queen couch.
- Five new four-bedroom villas are opening in Fall 2025. They’ve also listed individual “villa” rooms (if you want something newer and slightly bigger than the standard resort rooms; you’ll be locked out of the rest of the villa, so it’s private).
- If you need a kitchen, the Sunday House Suite has a kitchenette. The villas will have full kitchens.
play
- Kids of all ages will easily stay entertained.
- The heated year-round pool has a lovely lazy river, zero-entry, and a two-story waterslide (not suitable for little kids—must be 42"). The lazy river is lined with trees, which keeps it mostly shaded (necessary for Texas summers).
- There’s also an adults-only pool (Texas Pool), a 1-foot-deep kids pool (Critter Corner), and a FlowRider (must pay to use it and need to book a time slot, either online or in person.
- There’s currently no kids club. The “Junior Rangers” program is a 45-minute guided hike for kids 4–12 (Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m.). Parents must attend.
- They’re currently building a large lagoon on the property, complete with a beach, water sports, and dining (this also means there’s a good amount of construction going on right now — so if you think that will bother you, don’t go before Fall 2025).
- There’s an indoor arcade and an outdoor playground.
- They have a ton of organized family activities: soccer, tug-of-war, crafts (small fee), sandcastle competitions, races, t-ball, beach volleyball, water balloon toss, and more.
- Adult bikes are available to rent by the hour; kid bikes (with and without training wheels) are free and first-come, first-served. There are no bike seats or wagons.
- Your kids can help feed the local wildlife every morning at 8 a.m.
- For adults and older kids, there's a 27-hole golf course.
- You’re across the street from SeaWorld and 20 minutes from downtown San Antonio.
eat
- Breakfast doesn’t start until 7am (including room service). There’s a general store that opens at 6am with coffee and snacks.
- Breakfast is offered as a buffet on weekends.
- There are two poolside dining options and several bars and restaurants to get dinner. Antlers Lodge (steakhouse) is the most formal, but still perfectly acceptable for kids.
- They occasionally have local food trucks on site.
- Every night there are s’mores at Henry’s Hollow; there’s a fence around the fire pit to keep little kids from getting too close, which is a nice touch (you just stick your marshmallow roasting stick through it).
- You’re not walkable to any off-property restaurants, but you can easily drive to some.
