tips and watch-outs from families who've been there
sleep
- All king rooms have a pullout twin bed.
- Fireside rooms are on the ground floor and have a larger patio (with fire pit).
- Executive suites don’t have a door between the living room and bedroom; if you need door separation, you’ll need two connecting rooms.
- Club rooms give you access to the Club Lounge (breakfast, drinks, snacks).
- The waterfront Lake House (4 BR) has a private pool — great for multi-gen stays. There are also 2- and 3-bedroom cottages.
- Reserve the in-room camping experience for your kids for some added fun (comes with a small tent, sleeping bag, flashlight, book, and stuffed animal).
- Hotel rooms were renovated in 2024.
play
- Ritz Kids Clubhouse (ages 5–12, located next to the pool) runs half- and full-day programs with an interactive play floor, lakeside crafts, and arcade games downstairs. Reserve 48 hours in advance.
- Younger kids are able to play in the clubhouse with an adult.
- The family pool has a zero-entry section, a splash pad, and a snack bar.
- There’s also an age 12+ infinity pool with great views of the lake and cabanas for rent, and an indoor pool for cooler months. All pools are heated.
- Lake Oconee adventures (included unless motorized): paddleboards, kayaks, hydrobikes, fishing poles, and evening pontoon cruises. Jet-ski and wake-surf rentals for older kids.
- Kids will also love playing at the lakeside beach.
- Five championship golf courses nearby (with free shuttle service provided by the resort), plus tennis and pickleball courts at the Reynolds Lake Tennis Center.
- Bikes are available to ride around the 8 miles of bike paths; they have kid bikes with and without training wheels.
- Horseback riding can be arranged (off-property).
eat
- Kids under 2 eat free.
- All restaurants have kids’ menus, and they will happily puree food or warm bottles for babies.
- Amore del Lago is open for breakfast (7am), weekend brunch, and dinner.
- Gaby’s by the Lake is a great casual option for lunch and dinner.
- Other dinner options: Linger Longer Steakhouse, Oconee Cove, and the Lobby Lounge (small bites).
- There’s a coffee shop that opens at 6am (and has a mobile ordering option).
- Room service is open 6am – 1am.
- Don’t miss the free nightly s’mores by the lake.
- If you’re staying in a cottage or the Lake House, they can arrange for a private chef.
